When College Students Catch a Vision for “Sending”

college kids

A week ago we commissioned a whole slew of our college students (cheerfully pictured above) for the summer to various places around the country and the world. They will be working with our church planting teams in New York, Montreal, Taiwan, South Africa, England, and Serbia. Over the course of the summer, many of them will have their very first experience with church planting, a critical step as they develop their own walks with Christ and as they are equipped to become some of our future missionaries.

I still remember when the local college students first “found” the Summit: in one week, our attendance doubled, while our offering increased about $1.55. But while we were all excited to see college students streaming in our doors back then, we are so much more proud to see them being sent out from us now as well. We measure our success as a church not only by seating capacity, but by sending capacity. Thank God that our college students are catching that vision.

Summit, would you pray with me for these students? Pray that they would faithfully and passionately serve the cities and missionaries they are going to work with. Pray that God would use them to further the gospel. And pray that God would raise up long-term laborers who will be a part of reaching the nations with the gospel.
