Articles of the Week
The Church And Violence Against Women, Russell Moore. I wish that posts like this weren’t necessary. I wish that is was simply assumed that women are to be cherished, honored, and protected. I really wish that violence in the church was so rare as to be unthinkable. Sadly, that isn’t the case. And as long as domestic violence persists, articles like this will be of immense value.
God Is Just Fine with “Slow” Relationships, Ed Welch. “Get ready for a backlash—a surge in longer dinners with friends, tech-free small groups, and a general break out of a pent-up desire for human fellowship. Get ready for a retro movement back to slow-paced relationships. The pendulum is already swinging toward something more in sync with our humanity. But it will test us, because real face-to-face relationships can be very hard.
Five Steps to Take When You Get a Critical Email, Brian Howard. This is a handy little article about a very specific type of conflict. (And it’s much better than my “One Step When I Get a Critical Email” . . . i.e. Delete it.) Listen to the wisdom here and you’ll be well served next time you get that unwelcome online critique.
Six Habits of the Happiest Families, Eric Barker. “We know if we want to improve in our career, we have to work at it. And yet, we don’t do that with our family life. We sort of say, ‘It’s the end of the line, they’ll always be there. It’s always going to be stressful. Ill just deal.’ Well, no. If we work with our families and take small steps to try and make them better, we actually can make our families happier. And in the process, we can make every member of our family happier. So what’s the secret to a happy family? Try.” Here are six tips to help you along as you engage in the wild and humbling ride that is parenthood.
On The Lighter Side
“Inappropriate Wedding Songs,” Tim Hawkins. I just attended a wedding last weekend. Sadly (or happily, perhaps?), none of these songs were featured.
