The Deadly Myth of the Consenting Adult, John Zmirak. This is an excellent article about the unique nature of Christian love. Our current culture has bought into a heartless ethos that overlooks the suffering of others because they “consented” to their situation. Christians can—and should—stand out as those who continue to value others because they have unique value as people made in God’s image.
Christians Are Not Called to Have ‘Amazing Sex,’ Rachel Pietka. I’m not 100% on board with everything in this article, but there are some wise reminders. In our efforts to portray accurately the biblical picture of sex in marriage, Christians are often at risk of treating great sex as the guaranteed reward for obedience—and inadvertently idolizing it.
How Do We Explain the Same-Sex Marriage Debate to Our Kids? Russell Moore. “The Bible isn’t nearly as antiseptic as Christians sometimes pretend to be, and it certainly doesn’t shirk back from addressing all the complexities of human life. If we are discipling our children, let’s apply the Scriptures to all of life. If we refuse to talk to our children about some issue that is clearly before them, our children will assume we are unequipped to speak to it, and they’ll eventually search out a worldview that will.”
